The World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg) is a nonprofit, autonomous international agricultural research center
with headquarters in Taiwan and regional offices around the globe. WorldVeg conducts research and
development programs that contribute to improved incomes and diets in the developing world through increased
production and consumption of nutritious and health-promoting vegetables. For more information about World
Vegetable Center, please visit our websiteWorldVeg seeks to recruit a Communications Officer to coordinate communications activities, contribute to
achieving communications targets, and assist in monitoring their implementation. Duties include the development
and management of media relations, and producing and disseminating materials for communicating information
about the Center. The incumbent wil be based in World Vegetable Center's Eswatini office in Manzini.Key Responsibilities:Content Development
Produce high quality written stories and visual content (photo and video) for diverse target groups, to
support the Center in reaching its target audiences and to inspire meaningful action and impact.
Attend and report on events (workshops, training courses, field days, VIP visits, etc.) as requested.
Prepare social media content and engage with online communities.
Support the Center's external engagement efforts and resource acquisition.
Ensure al content complies with World Vegetable Center communications protocols.Media Communications
Develop and maintain media contacts in Eswatini, including international correspondents and agencies.
Proactively pursue opportunities to pitch compel ing story ideas to the media, including press releases.
Facilitate media engagement to position the Center as a credible voice for vegetable issues.
Coordinate, plan, and facilitate media visits to the World Vegetable Center's programs.Internal Communications
Participate in the design of communications business plans and initiatives that ensure the
communications department delivers high-value results.
Support the production of content for the Center's Eswatini office internal communications and
engagement initiatives.
Facilitate staff engagement during key global moments.
Support staff training to effectively communicate the impact of the Center in Eswatini.
Coordinate and liaise with service providers to ensure timely and delivery of quality results.
Support planning and coordination of the Center's public events.
Support al communications aspects of internal and external engagement for other departments.Branding and Reputation
Ensure that the Center's reputation and brand are protected and strengthened through effectively
managed external engagement.
Ensure consistent branding and visibility guidelines for the Center, donors and partners are followed.Others
Monitor and regularly report on communications activities and impacts, and provide recommendations
on how to increase outreach.
Participate in meetings as requested, on behalf of the Regional Communications Officer.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with partners and field staff to facilitate successful
coordination and planning of visits and activities.
Any other responsibilities as might be assigned from time to time.Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in journalism, mass communications, or a relevant field.
At least three years working experience in producing a range of communications materials.
Experience in communications campaigns and in working with media (national and international).Skills and knowledge
Must be a capable organizer, with good team skil s, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Excel ent communication skil s are essential, both written and spoken.
Knowledge of, or interest in, agriculture and rural development issues.
Proved photographic talent.
Design and layout skil (Adobe, Canva, InDesign) is a distinct advantage.
