ABOUT THE ROLEThe Procurement Engineer drives strategic cost management for select Peloton products and accessories, ensuring adherence to target costs throughout their lifecycles using a bottoms-up approach. Key responsibilities include managing the total cost of ownership (TCO), optimizing the supply chain network, and supporting product development through SPOR and dual-sourcing initiatives. Additional duties encompass complexity reduction, component phase-in/phase-out planning, and end-to-end supplier process improvements. The role also involves capital expenditure (CapEx) budget oversight and statement of work (SOW) management.YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTONEnhance product cost competitiveness throughout the product lifecycle by optimizing total cost of ownership (TCO).Collaborate with suppliers and engineering teams on value engineering, including:Competitive teardowns and reverse engineering.Should-cost and clean-sheet cost modeling.Concept scoping and feature tradeoff analysisEnsure product cost efficiency, supply chain scalability, and flexibility by:Providing feature-value tradeoff recommendations.Optimizing TCO across components and products.Conducting value-stream mapping to reduce supply chain lead times, costs, and enhance network flexibility.Supports the development of value engineering, cost engineering, and DfX certification programs to educate & train product development personnel with Peloton to develop & sustain products from a total cost of ownership (TCO) perspective.Oversee cost engineering activities to align bottoms-up cost estimates with target product costs, maximizing TCO.Manage the Supplier Plan of Record (SPOR), ensuring components are sourced on time, within budget, and to specifications through commodity management and JDM/ODM partnerships.Control capital expenditure (CapEx) during New Product Introduction (NPI) to achieve cost-competitive outcomes.Conduct Bill of Materials (BOM) risk assessments, identifying needs for alternate sourcing and mitigating supply chain risks.Support complexity reduction through SKU rationalization, component commonality, and supplier consolidation.Negotiate supplier contracts to secure favorable pricing, terms, and process improvements.YOU BRING TO PELOTONMinimum of 8 years of total professional experience, with at least 5 years in advanced sourcing activities, preferably as a commodity or sourcing manager.Proven expertise in product-based value engineering, cost engineering, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis at both component and product levels.Experience in the ODM/OEM manufacturing industry is preferred.Background in designing and developing electronics or mechanical devices is a plus.Bachelor's degree in engineering (BSME, BSEE) or other related technical degree. Advanced technical degree or MBA strongly preferred.
