Lantern seeks an experienced backend engineer to help fight censorship around the world through our censorship circumvention tool.Lantern uses a variety of networking and protocol tricks to sneak traffic past censors in some of the most repressive censoring countries in the world. On the Lantern team, you will be a part of consistently deploying protocols and strategies that have never been used on the internet before. Some devops experience is helpful but not required. On the other end of the spectrum, some mobile experience is helpful but not required. We make heavy use of Go, and experience with networking, security, and protocols are strongly encouraged. We also use tools such as PostgreSQL, Redis, and Docker.If you’re excited to tackle thorny social problems with software, or if you’re an experienced engineer who thinks they might be ready to tackle a new kind of challenge, we want to hear from you.Responsibilities

Collaborate with multi-functional teams to define and prioritize software development projects to improve business and product processes
Analyze and understand customer and business needs to inform software design decisions
Design, develop, and maintain software solutions using a variety of programming languages, frameworks, and tools
Test and debug software to ensure it meets requirements and performs as expected
Collaborate with teams to ensure that software meets standards and customer requirements
Document software design, development, and maintenance processes
Mentor and train other software engineers

Required Qualifications

Fluency in Mandarin is required
4+ years of working experience in development, building data-centric applications using Go, Rust, C++, C
Experience testing, maintaining and/or launching software products, and 3+ year of experience with software design and architecture
Experience with network programming
Action oriented & excellent analytical and creative thinking
