The Capacity Supply Chain and Provisioning (CSCP) group is an exciting and fast evolving group within Microsoft whose vision is to empower customers to achieve more by delivering cloud capacity differentiated at scale. The organization is responsible for planning, delivery and provision of all data centers globally powering Microsoft cloud properties. CSCP supports over 200 online businesses including Bing, O365, OneDrive, Xbox and Windows Azure branded services.

Cloud Sourcing and Supply Chain (CSSC) organization within CSCP manages sourcing and supply of IT hardware for the data centers. Well-defined and executed sourcing and supply chain management ensures reliable on-time performance, optimized cost, prevents urgent and unplanned investments, and provides accurate and timely information across the supply base and internally across the infrastructure organization. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide.

We are looking for a passionate, high energy and capable individual who has expertise in Server related PCBA/component sourcing, EE/ME component, engineering or operation to join the team. An ideal candidate will lead supplier relationships, defining the category and supply base strategy, including influencing hardware technology roadmap to meet Microsoft Cloud requirement, driving continual cost optimization and ensuring continuity of supply to meet the Cloud’s exponential growth are key success measures for this position. This role is also responsible to interact with engineering on future technology roadmap for category managed. The role of Structural Sourcing (Sr.) Director servers as a people manager with key focus areas:
  • Sourcing management and strategies (33%)
  • Cost and operations management (33%)
  • Supplier performance and compliance (33%)
Meanwhile, s/he needs to provide thought leadership and drive strategic initiatives with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support cloud supply chain overall objectives and strategies

Key responsibilities:
  • Sourcing management
  • Engage with cross functional leadership including product design, quality, business teams to determine sourcing requirements for system integrators
  • Focus on category management (PCBA, ME, EE etc.) of sustaining platforms to ensure advantaged cost and sufficient continuity of supply
  • Define RFQ / RFP activities and direct structural sourcing team to conduct negotiations with suppliers
  • Manage contracting activities with Legal and ensure contract reflect MSFT’s cross functional engagements with suppliers
  • Serve as the escalation point for component supply and/or supplier issues
  • Cost and operations management
  • Set up savings targets for the categories managed and drive sourcing managers to deliver the result
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities and drive supplier for cost competitiveness with sourcing tools (e.g. Cost modeling)
  • Run weekly, monthly, quarter review with team on cost and operations KPIs
  • Manage ad-hoc cost issues e.g. tariffs / import export cost, cost inflation
  • Support cost and supply chain operations needs relevant to system integrators e.g. invoice, PO, inventory requirements
  • Continuous improvement of operations processes
  • Manage supplier performance and compliance
  • Develop and enable new suppliers
  • MSFT’s central point of contact of supplier relationship in assigned categories
  • Ensure supplier compliant with MSFT requirements (E.g. security, social responsibility, payment terms)
  • Conduct business review discussions
  • Ensure supplier deliver corrective actions on time from business review / audits
  • Support CSSC teams to drive suppliers toward their operational and cost metrics
  • Manage sourcing talents in MSFT Taiwan office and act as a site leader for CSCP

  • Effectively lead cross-organizational meetings to lead teams to consensus and/or decisions to maintain project schedules
  • Exhibit sound judgment in terms of balancing cost and risk
  • Familiar with business tools (g. word, excel modeling, power point slides) and able to generate quality outputs
Major experience:
  • 10+ years experiences in procurement, supply chain, operations areas
  • 5-10 year working experience in sourcing and supplier management in PCBA, EE, ME and/or thermal categories
  • Extensive experience in leading cross functional teams
  • Cloud / high tech supply chain experience is a plus
