
Senior Video Test Engineer

- Monitor and ensure the video quality and performance of wireless presentation and collaboration systems across diverse platforms and use cases.
- Validate features with a strong focus on video streaming, encoding/decoding, playback synchronization, and ensure the Definition of Done is consistently met.
- Develop and maintain automated test cases for video and multimedia functionality using Python, running across platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux).
- Support Test Driven Development (TDD) and promote best practices for video QA and automated testing.
- Share tools, frameworks, and best practices for video test automation with test development colleagues.
- Lead manual and exploratory testing of video features such as latency, resolution switching, frame drops, artifact detection, and AV sync.
- Build and support QA pipelines for automated video quality analysis, release verification, and performance testing.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and developers in an Agile environment to ensure test coverage of video features.
- Ensure video quality in quarterly firmware releases, including regression and stability tests for video pipelines.
- Manage and triage video-related issues from partners/customers, including streaming problems, playback issues, or compatibility errors.
- Debug and analyze logs, video artifacts, and synchronization issues to support development teams in narrowing down root causes.
- Fluent in English & Chinese, both written and verbal.
- Solid understanding of network communication protocols (TCP/UDP/RTSP/WebRTC) and related video transmission security (SSL/TLS, DRM).
- Familiarity with video codecs (H.264, H.265, VP9), media containers, and streaming protocols.
- Experience with embedded software and hardware-software integration, especially for video systems.
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Multimedia Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years in video QA, multimedia testing, or software testing with video-centric products.
- Experience in manual testing of video systems across Web, Mobile (iOS/Android), or set-top box environments.
- Proficient in using and integrating Git, SVN, and bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Pivotal Tracker).
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and log analysis skills, especially for video/audio sync issues.
- Able to proactively identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in video QA workflows and suggest improvements.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional, collaborative environments.
- Skilled in interpreting and testing technical and functional video requirements.
- Detail-oriented, with a passion for delivering high-quality visual experiences.
- Capable of working independently in a structured and methodical manner.
- Solid knowledge of video performance metrics (latency, jitter, frame rate, resolution) and how to test them.
- Deep understanding of software testing methodology, particularly for multimedia applications.
