to the jobASML is seeking a Head of Legal & Compliance – Taiwan & Southeast Asia to manage the Legal & Compliance function for ASML (the “Company”) in the Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia region, with responsibility for the broad spectrum of legal and compliance matters arising from or related to this region, from strategic to operational, commercial to regulatory, covering all of ASML’s various regional business operations. Based in Hsinchu, Taiwan, and reporting into the Head of Legal & Compliance Asia, the Head of Legal & Compliance Taiwan & Southeast Asia leads the team of legal and compliance professionals based in Taiwan.Role and responsibilitiesWorking closely with global and local stakeholders, the successful candidate will:Act as strategic legal business partner to regional commercial units, advising on regulatory compliance as well as deal structuring and execution, including drafting and negotiating commercial (sales and procurement) contracts;Manage ethics and compliance programs in the region, including proactively promoting a culture of integrity, ethics, and compliance within the local organization and providing advice and support in compliance with laws, regulations, and policies;Provide strategic advice and management for regulatory inquiries, audits and investigations, and handle litigation and other legal disputes and potential disputes;Maintain ASML’s multiple legal entities in the region, and provide legal support for corporate projects;Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current laws and industry regulations of the different countries in the region, identifying local compliance requirements, setting compliance priorities, and supporting implementation of compliance controls and processes;Act as advisor to regional and HQ-based management regarding local laws, regulatory developments, acting as the bridge between HQ and the region, both within the Legal & Compliance department, as well as with other departments; member of regional country management team(s);Lead and manage the attorneys and compliance officers in the Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia region, setting and managing the overall strategy and direction of the regional legal & compliance team in line with corporate priorities as well as the department’s strategic objectives; andSelect and strategically manage the company’s external legal advisory network throughout the region, including consideration of competencies, responsiveness to the company’s needs, as well as cost.Education and experienceAt least 12+ years of experience, preferably in both law firm and in-house settings; semiconductor industry experience is a plus;JD or equivalent law degree;Strong personal character and commitment to integrity;Knowledge of and passion for ethical conduct and compliance;Good business sense;Ability to influence others and lead;Proactive, hands-on approach;Fluent in Mandarin and English.Diversity and inclusionASML is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values and respects the importance of a diverse and inclusive workforce.
